The world's top swimmers will be gathering in Luxembourg for the 22nd edition of the Euro Meet, being held at d'Coque in Kirchberg from 24 to 26 January 2020.

The organisers of the Euro Meet, the Luxembourg Swimming Federation (FLNS), have confirmed the participation of some of the best sprinters in the world, such as the UK's Benjamin Proud, Brazil's Bruno Fratus and Ukraine's Andriy Govorov.

In the freestyle sprint, Bruno Fratus, silver medallist at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships will compete against the 2017 bronze medallist and 2018 European Champion, Benjamin Proud.

Bruno Fratus missed the bronze medal by two hundredths of a second in the 500m freestyle at the Olympic Games in 2012 and had to undergo a shoulder operation in spring 2013. In 2015, the 30-year-old celebrated his comeback with a bronze medal at the World Championships in Kazan, followed by a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest and in 2019 in Gwangju, where he was beaten only by US superstar Caleb Dressel.

Benjamin Proud, five years his junior, won the bronze medal in the 50m freestyle and in the 50m butterfly events at the World Championships in Budapest in 2017. Last year, the Briton became European Champion at the European Championships in Glasgow in the 50m freestyle.

The third superstar in this sprint will be Andriy Govorov. The Ukrainian is the reigning world record holder (22.27 seconds) in the 50m butterfly and won bronze at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest as well as a gold medal at the European Championships in 2016 in London and in 2018 in Glasgow.
