On Sunday, 155 young swimmers participated in the Festival de l'Avenir swimming meet, held at the Aquasud swimming complex in Differdange.

The traditional swimming meet, organised by the FLNS, Luxembourg's national swimming federation, saw 155 young swimmers aged eight to thirteen from eleven Luxembourg swimming clubs compete.

In the "Pupilles I" category, Amelie Scholer from the Swimming Luxembourg club dominated with victories over the 50m breaststroke (41.14 seconds), the 400m freestyle (5 minutes 14.66 seconds) and 200m medley (2 minutes 51.60 seconds) events. Only over the 50m freestyle event was she beaten by her eleven-year-old teammate Nina Hric (30.50 seconds) and the Ettelbrück club's Joyce Bleses (30.63 seconds).

In the category for boys born in 2007, Albert Chaussard from the Dudelange club won gold over the 50m breaststroke (37.46 seconds), the 400m freestyle (4 minutes 58.92 seconds) and 200m freestyle (2 minutes 42.69 seconds) events. The 50m freestyle victory went to Anton Fedoseev (30.69 seconds) from the Swimming Luxembourg club in this category.

For the girls born in 2007, Mengjia Han from Swimming Luxembourg won the 400m freestyle (4 minutes 50.85 seconds), the 50m freestyle (29.64 seconds) and the 200m medley (2 minutes 36.67 seconds) events. The 50m breaststroke victory went to Gina Thill from the Mondercange club (38.19 seconds). Similarly, for the boys born in 2006, Mondercange's Nicolas Calmes dominated all four events; the 13-year-old won gold in every event.

For the youngest swimmers, born in 2010, Leni Leonard from Swimming Luxembourg won three gold medals: 50m breaststroke (52.57 seconds), 100m backstroke (1 minute 39.12 seconds ) and 100m medley (1 minute 41.41 seconds). In the boy's category, Inaki Reinesch from the Differdange club secured victories over the 50m breaststroke (46.58 seconds), 100m backstroke (1 minute 31.88 seconds), 100m medley (1 minute 30.18 seconds) and 100m freestyle (1 minute 20.61 seconds) events.

Moreover, Teodora Grujic-Martins from Swimming Luxembourg won three out of four gold medals in the 2009 year. Only over the 100m backstroke was she beaten by club colleague Maja Milanovska. Likewise, in the boys' year 2008, Swimming Luxembourg swimmers Pablo Ortiz Bogdanov (50m breaststroke, 100m medley) and Evan Viguier (100 backstroke, 100m freestyle) shared the titles with each other.

At the end of the competition, the Swimming Luxembourg teams secured the winner's trophy over the 4x50m positions in the categories "Poussins" and "Pupilles".
