Russian World Record holder Kliment Kolesnikov and Ukrainian elite swimmers Mykhailo Romanchuk and Sergiy Frolov have been confirmed among the athletes competing at the Euro Meet 2019 at the Coque in Luxembourg.

This news comes following the confirmation that fellow elite swimmers from Team Energy Standaard, sprinters Sarah Sjöström and Georgia Davies, would be present at the upcoming swimming gala.

For his part, Kliment Kolesnikov set a new World Record in the 50m backstroke (with a time of 24:00) at the European Championships 2018 in Glasgow. The 18-year-old also won the 100 backstroke race on this occasion. The two Ukrainian swimmers Mykhailo Romanchuk and Sergiy Frolov will be competing in the longer freestyle events at this year's Euro Meet. Romanchuk won gold at the World Championship 2017 in Budapest in the 1,500m freestyle before going on to win gold in the 400m and 800m freestyle races at the European Championships 2018 in Glasgow. In December in Hangzhou he also became World Short Course Champion in the 1,500m freestyle. Team mate Sergiy Frolov won the bronze medal in the 800m freestyle in 2012 at the European Championships in Debrecen and the silver medal in the 1,500m freestyle at the European Short Course Championships in Chartres.

The freestyle and butterfly sprint events will also see the UK's Benjamin Proud compete. The 24-year-old was European Champion at the home European Championships last year in the 50m freestyle race and World Champion 2017 in the 50m butterfly race.
