On Friday 20 March 2026, Luxembourg's Government Council (cabinet) adopted the annual report on gender statistics within decision-making bodies.

According to Luxembourg's Ministry of Gender Equality and Diversity, the balanced participation of women and men in decision-making bodies, whether political or economic, remains a government priority. This commitment is part of an approach aimed at strengthening equal opportunities, diversifying profiles within governing bodies and ensuring that public and private decisions fully reflect the plurality of society.

On 30 January 2026, women accounted for 40.22% of members on the boards of directors of public institutions, up from 38.64% on 30 June 2024. At the time of the first census, on 31 January 2015, the share of women was 27.41%.

The proportion of women representing the State on these boards reached 45.57% in 2026, compared to 43.61% in June 2024 and 30.34% in January 2015.

In private companies, the proportion of women representing the State was 33.56% in 2026, marking a slight decrease compared to 35.23% in June 2024. In January 2015, only 24.69% of women represented the State in private companies.

Yuriko Backes, Luxembourg's Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity, welcomed the generally positive trend. She reiterated her commitment to maintaining these efforts undertaken by the government and to using them as a source of inspiration for other stakeholders in society, stating: "It is important to ensure balanced representation in decision-making bodies for reasons of social justice, the quality of decisions and the performance of organisations and democracies."
