On Wednesday 12 October 2022, Luxembourg's Joint Social Security Centre (Centre commun de la sécurité sociale - CCSS) published its fourth annual report which summarises the activities of the year 2021.
The report presents in detail its organisation, its various missions and main activities, as well as the corresponding key figures. The CCSS recalls that these figures are to be put into a multi-year perspective to reflect the continuity in which the CCSS exercises its profession.
Thus, the contributions calculated and invoiced by the CCSS in 2021 amounted to €6.85 billion, which constitutes an increase of 7% compared to the contributions calculated by the previous year. In addition, 515,055 entry and exit declarations were managed by the CCSS as well as 9,903,832 wage declarations resulting in 93,255 monthly invoices issued and sent to employers, self-employed and voluntarily insured.
In 2021, 470,919 employees, 28,056 self-employed and 19,799 voluntarily insured were affiliated to the CCSS. 7,147 summons marked the entry into the phase of forced collection of social security contributions and reflects a drop of 7% compared to 2020.
