Luxembourg's Ministry of Sport and the National Youth Service (Service national de la jeunesse - SNJ) have announced that the "Nuit du Sport" (night of sport) is returning with its 12th edition on Saturday 5 June 2021.

The initiative was first launched in 2009 by SNJ and the Sports Ministry as part of the national action plan “Gesond Iessen, Méi Beweegen” (GIMB; eat healthily, move more). During this annual event, Luxembourg's municipalities mobilise sports clubs, sports commissions, youth centres and other associations and structures to offer sports and original activities around sports discovery and movement. The 2020 edition had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of nineteen municipalities and other organisers have signed up to organise an unprecedented evening this Saturday around the discovery of sports practices under the slogan “Maach mat a probéier aus!” (take part and try [it] out). From north to south, west to east, visitors will be able to discover a sports programme in the following localities: Bettembourg, Bissen, Clervaux, Contern, Feulen, Kayl, Kopstal, Leudelange, Lultzhausen, Luxembourg, Manternach, Mondorf-les-Bains, Pétange, Roeser, Sandweiler, Schengen, Schieren, Schifflange and Schuttrange.

Sporting highlights this year include Aikido, beach volleyball, canoeing and kayaking, darts, climbing, KanJam, kickboxing, Nordic walking, parkour, teqball and Zumba.

Detailed information, including activity programmes and registration details, is available on the official website: www.nuitdusport.lu.
