On Tuesday 22 September 2020, Luxembourg's Minister of Sports Dan Kersch presented the digital version of the sports-leisure calendar as part of the European Week of Sport.

European Week of Sport, which is taking place from 23 to 30 September 2020, also known by the hashtag #BeActive, is an initiative of the European Commission to promote sport and physical activity for all across Europe.

One of the flagship actions is the #BeActive Clip Contest which was addressed to education and reception services approved by the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth and which aims to educate young people about the benefits of regular physical activity and sport. 21 reception structures participated in the initiative this year. The videos will be posted from today on Facebook (@beactiveLetzebuerg). The three videos which obtain the highest number of "likes" before 30 September 2020 will be rewarded with sports equipment or sports equipment of the winners' choice with a respective value of €1,000, €750 and €500.

As part of this sports week, the National Youth Service (Service national de la jeunesse - SNJ) launched the first edition of # BeActive@Jugendhaus to encourage young people to move more and engage in physical activity. Ten youth centres and structures working in the field of youth are participating in the SNJ initiative and offering around 40 sports workshops throughout Luxembourg. Participation is free and is aimed mainly at young people.

Minister Dan Kersch also presented the digital version of the traditional sports-leisure calendar published by the Ministry of Sports. This digital platform aims to bring together the non-commercial sports-leisure offers available in Luxembourg and to make them accessible to the general public. The Sports Minister also addressed some elements of the return to sports in the context of the COVID-19 health crisis.
