Kinepolis Luxembourg has announced its upcoming cycle of reruns of operas from the Metropilitan (Met) Opera in New York.

On the "Summer Encore" programme are four operas that have made a "lasting impression" in the view of Kinepolis. These will be screened at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg over four consecutive Wednesdays, from 24 July to 14 August 2024, always at 13:45.

The programme opens with the 2018 broadcast of Puccini's timeless classic La Bohème, with soprano Sonya Yoncheva as the fragile seamstress Mimì and tenor Michael Fabiano as the passionate poet Rodolfo, and continues with the 2014 broadcast of La Cenerentola by Rossini, with mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato in the title role and tenor Juan Diego Flórez in that of her prince charming. Completing the programme are the 2016 broadcast of Puccini's Turandot, with soprano Nina Stemme, tenor Marco Berti and soprano Anita Hartig, and the 2020 broadcast of Porgy and Bess by the Gershwins, with soprano Angel Blue and bass-baritone Eric Owens. The operas will be performed in their original version with English subtitles.
