The Ciné-club hellénique de Luxembourg (Greek cinema club) has announced that it is screening the 2023 Greek film Where We Live at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg on Tuesday 24 October at 19:00 and on Wednesday 25 October 2023 at 21:00.
"Where We Live" (Greece, 2021, 90 min, colour), directed by Sotiris Goritsas, will be screened at Ciné Utopia in the original Greek version with English subtitles. The film is suitable for children over the age of sixteen. Note that the time of screening has changed again, at the request of Ciné Utopia.
Synopsis: It is a usual day in downtown Athens, with demonstrations and traffic jams. Antonis is a down-on-his luck attorney, but this day will be a turning point: all his relationships and commitments will be challenged and re-examined as this modern Ulysses travels from the courthouses to remote Athenian outskirts. When the new dawn breaks, he will be a changed man. This film is based on Christos Kythreotis' novel of the same name.
A hectic day in the life of a lawyer who, turning 40, tries to break free from the tangle of his obligations as a not so up-and-coming professional, as an estranged son, a former lover and a friend. Following this urban cowboy in the Athenian "Far West", the film explores with an ironic outlook amusing nuggets of human comedy with a contemporary Greek backdrop.
Cast: Promitheas Aleiferopoulos, Stelios Mainas, Makis Papadimitriou, Christina Tsafou, Maria Kallimani and Gerasimos Skiadaresis.
Director: Βοrn in Athens in 1955, Sotiris Goritsas studied economics at the University of Athens and Cinema at the London International Film School. He has directed a number of documentaries for Greek public television as well as commercials. He is known for Ap' to hioni (1993), Valkanizater (1997) and Ap' ta kokala vgalmena (2011), all of which have been screened in Luxembourg by the Greek film club.
Tickets for the upcoming screening cost €10, or €5 for members of the Greek cinema club. Tickets can be purchased at the cinema, just before the screening (cash only) or at Luxembourg Ticket.
