On 6 December, the American Embassy in Luxembourg will be hosting a special viewing and discussion panel of the American St-Nick film documentary, on Tuesday 6 December 2016 at 19:00 at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.
The documentary came out in 2015. Produced by Tim Gray of the WWII Foundation, it uses new interviews as well as archive footage. The film, which runs at 58 minutes, is based on Peter Lion’s book “American St. Nick. A True Story” first published in 2003. Both the documentary and the book focus on Corporal Richard Brookins, the GI who posed as “Kleeschen” one cold December day in 1944 in the city of Wiltz.
Tim Gray’s American Saint Nick was first shown in Luxembourg in November 2015 for its European Premiere. Since then, the film on Richard Brookins was twice recognised at the 39th Boston/New England Emmy Awards for musical composition and writer programme. But other than to spread awareness for an excellent documentary, the U.S. Embassy would like with this second screening to connect the younger generations to the WW2 associations.
To apply for free tickets to this screening, email: Luxembourgrsvp@state.gov by 2 December.
