The Cinémathèque of the Ville de Luxembourg gas announced the first 3D screening of the musical comedy Kiss Me Kate on Thursday 20 October 2016 at 20:30.
Following the Broadway success of Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate whish will be performing at the Grand Théâtre from 15 to 20 October, the Cinémathèque has decided to relive the experience of this 1950s film in 3D. Made in 1953, the film is George Sydney’s best musical comedy with a series of spectacular musical numbers highlighted by a screenplay which plays with the idea of theatricality. Kiss Me Kate encompasses adaptations of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
The decision to screen the 1950s film in 3D is aimed at attracting new audiences to the cinema.
The one-off screening will take place on 20 October at 20:30 at the Cinémathèque, Place de Théâtre in Luxembourg city. Tickets cost €3.70, €2.40 (reduced rate). For reservations, see www.luxembourgticket.lu. 3D glasses will be available on the night.
