On Wednesday 30 October 2024, the Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration issued a product recall concerning Moomin Lollipops from Fazer, due to a possible risk of suffocation, according to information on the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).
The administration described the Moomin lollipops as posing a safety risk due to their size, hardness and shape. The press release stated that the stick can soften in the mouth, which could cause the sweet to suddenly detach, posing a risk of suffocation.
This recall only concerns Moomin lollipops and does not concern other Fazer lollipops, which have a smaller sweet part and a different shape.
The administration confirmed that Fazer is not yet able to estimate when or in what form the product will be available again.
The products may be distributed by different points of sale in Luxembourg.
