On Wednesday 19 June 2024, the delivery service Wolt announced it is now becoming available in the Grand Duchy’s south, in the city of Esch-sur-Alzette.
The service launched in Luxembourg in February 2024, and it has now expanded its services to the southern region, to include Differdange, Schifflange, Mondercange and Sanem. Users in these areas can now also order food and other goods from more than 75 restaurants, and have them delivered to their home address within 30 minutes.
The company has partnered with a diverse selection of local restaurants including the Greek restaurant Souvlaki, Neapolitan pizza place Cloud Factory, Burger King, Subway, the Lebanese restaurant Chiche, the Mexican and Burger restaurant Coyote Café and many more. Wolt’s vision when entering a new market is to have the widest selection so that everyone can find something they like, the company noted.
“We are very excited about bringing Wolt to Esch. Since our entry into Luxemburg in February, we have been practically blown away by the positive reception from both customers and merchants. Our restaurant partners tell us that a great majority of the sales they get through Wolt is new business. These new sales come on top of the regular walk-in traffic, adding to the businesses’ topline. We are happy to be able to strengthen the local restaurant business in Luxemburg, and we are looking forward to working with local restaurants in Esch,” said Ludvig Helmertz, interim general manager for Wolt in Luxemburg.
Just a month ago, Wolt launched its subscription service Wolt+ in Luxemburg, much earlier than expected due to high demand. Wolt+ gives subscribers free delivery as well as access to special deals and discounts.
Wolt also added it recently started accepting Pluxee (Sodexo) et Edenred cards as payment popular among many Luxembourg employees.
