Closure Announced for Cactus Hobbi Shop in Howald

On Tuesday 28 May 2024, the Cactus family business announced to its employees and the staff delegation that its Cactus hobbi shop in Howald will close on 31 December 2024.

Management has reassured the 34 employees affected by the closure, who will all keep their jobs by being reassigned to other shops in the Cactus network.  

The decision to close was prompted by the expiry of the shop’s lease. The Howald shop is located in an operating area affected by large-scale, long-term construction projects.  The Cactus hobbi store, which specialises in DIY, gardening, home and garden decoration and fittings, had occupied the site as a tenant since 1994.  Nevertheless, its customers will find part of the range in the Cactus supermarket in Howald, the Cactus business owners noted.

Laurent Schonckert, Managing Director of the Cactus Group, said: “This decision to consolidate our specific non-food offer in our Cactus hobbi shops at La Belle Etoile, Bascharage and Diekirch is the right one for our company and our customers. Customer satisfaction and loyalty remain our priority, and this will enable us to welcome and serve our customers in the way they expect of us.”
