Ceramic manufacturer Villeroy & Boch have created a set of hand-made pieces as part of the 'Made in Luxembourg' collection.
The pieces have been made entirely by hand using the 'traditional method' with great attention to detail. Two particular pieces, as well as gift items from the Manufacture Impériale et Royale du Luxembourg were created in honour of the Grand-Ducal Court and the Grand Duke.
An ornamental tray item, titled 'vide-poche', is available with either the armorial bearings of the Grand Duchy, or the insignia of Their Royal Highnesses, the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa placed under a crown. For these two sets, real gold was used for the gilding, with the insignia version in white and cold, and the coat of arms option said to be replete in colours.
A porcelain sweet box is also available, with a design adapted from a historical model and which was also manufactured in Luxembourg. The lid is decorated with an emblem of Luxembourg in the form of a skyline silhouette denoting famous landmarks such as the La Passerelle viaduct and the Cathédrale Notre-Dame.
All of Villeroy & Boch's porcelain items, are available under the 'Made in Luxembourg' label in retail outlets such as 2 Rue du Fossé, La Belle Etoile, and Luxembourg House which recently opened on Rue de l'Eau near the Grand-Ducal Palace.
