POST Luxembourg has expanded its network and installed its 100th PackUp 24/24 station in the district of Cloche d'Or.

Launched in November 2011 at Luxembourg-Gare and Dudelange, the first PackUp stations distributed 25,000 parcels in one year. In 2019, more than 850,000 parcels will have gone through these stations. In order to meet demand, the network has grown and POST is now installing its 100th PackUp station in the Cloche d'Or district, on its "Weierbaach" site at 10 Rue Emile Bian.

By the end of 2019, POST expects to exceed for the first time the milestone of one million parcels distributed in the PackUp network (PackUp stations and points). Accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, PackUp stations installed throughout the country have quickly become one of the preferred ways for residents to receive their parcels.

Hjoerdis Stahl, Director of POST Courrier, commented: "25% of the packages that POST delivers are distributed via PackUp stations. It's a record in Europe. According to the figures of the last IPC [International Post Corporation] report, Luxembourg has sixteen PackUp stations per 100,000 inhabitants. While there are only 1.8 stations per 100,000 inhabitants in Germany and Belgium, there are 0.9 stations in France to name only the neighbouring countries".

The success of PackUp stations has been attributed to new consumption habits: customers who are rarely at home during the postman or postwoman's shift are no longer forced to go to the post office. They can decide to pick up their package at a PackUp point (petrol station, convenience store) or in the PackUp 24/24 station of their choice.
