Global satellite operator SES S.A., whose headquarters are in Luxembourg, has been awarded the title of 'Operator of the Year' by global consulting firm Euroconsult.

The accolade was awarded at the 19th edition of the World Satellite Business week in Paris, which brings together around 800 representatives of the global satellite communications annually for debate and deal-making. Winners were chosen by a panel of industry experts from Euroconsult, which specialises in space markets, as well as from SpaceNews and Satellite Finance, who came together to assess candidates based on qualitative and quantitative crieria.

The 'Global Satellite Operator of the Year' award represents a recognition of achievements made in terms of revenue, EBITDA margin and growth, as well as subscriber growth.

Three other awards were presented to companies and their management for accomplishments in the satellite sector, these being Emerging Markets Communications (EMS), which won the award for 'Strategic Transaction of the Year'; Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC), winner of 'Regional FSS (fixed-satellite service) Operator of the Year'; and Arsat, recognised as 'Newcomer Satellite Operator of the Year'.
