SES S.A. today announced that Netherlands-based company TV Entertainment Reality Network (TERN) has contracted capacity under a long-term agreement to launch a new HD and Ultra HD free-to-air channel which will be exclusively available via satellite in Europe on ASTRA.

CEO at TERN Mariam Zamaray said of the channel, which will start to air in October 2015: "We are very excited to launch the new channel on SES satellite across Europe. We guarantee a premium experience for our partners and viewers. Our ambition is to broadcast premium programming in an immersive way in Ultra HD. Our aim is to change the way you watch television."

"The new channel that TERN is launching will have outstanding picture quality in Ultra HD and revolutionise the TV viewing experience," added Ferdinand Kayser, Chief Commercials Officer at SES. "2015 is the year in which Ultra HD has become a reality for TV viewers in Europe, and we are pleased that the first three Ultra HD channels in Europe are broadcast via SES satellites."

SES S.A., based in Luxembourg, has recently collaborated with companies such as Armstrong to initiate the first-ever live and linear Ultra HD (UHD), and with Fashion One to launch the world's first global UHD channel.
