SES S.A. subsidiary SES Platform Services today announced that it will be presenting a live showcase of its video-on-demand (VoD) solution LIQUID VOD via satellite at IBC 2015.
The IBC live showcase intends to explain LIQUID VOD as a new system for using satellite to distribute video content, providing an instantaneous and enriched video experience on demand. The solution seeks to bridge the lack of broadband internet connectivity in underserved areas and avoid incremental distribution cost whilst delivering content to an increasing number of users.
LIQUID VOD supports all major business mdels such as SVoD and TVoD and is deisgned to deliver premium content bacsed on available encryption systems.
"If there is one shortfall of satellite distribution in general, it is the current limitation to near-video-on-demand offerings based on fixed schedules for operators and platforms," explained Wilfried Urner, CEO of SES Platform Services. "SES is always looking to innovate and, by developing LIQUID VOD, we are very confident this obstacle will be overcome soon. There are still many areas in the world without area-wide broadband supply, and in these regions LIQUID VOD would be a perfect solution for operators to launch VoD services to exploit the growing demand for non-linear content."
The LIQUID VOD live showcase will be available at the SES stand at Hall 1, stand 1.B51 at the IBC 2015 in Amsterdam, the annual event convening professionals in all fields related to the creation, management and delivery of entertainment and news content around the world.
