Luxinnovation, the national agency for the promotion of innovation, announced that it is organising an information session on Friday 10 June 2022 at 11:00, in the form of a webinar, for companies and researchers interested in participating in the call for research and development (R&D) projects launched in the field of defence.

Based on interministerial cooperation between the Directorate of Defence, the Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research as well as the National Research Fund (Fonds national de la recherche - FNR) and Luxinnovation, the call for projects aims to support Luxembourg industry to integrate the European Union's defence value chain and above all to develop dual-use technologies, therefore having both civilian and military applications.

Given the specificities of the economic fabric and the specialties of public research in Luxembourg, the call for projects is limited to the space and materials sectors and targets both companies and research centres in Luxembourg in order to offer them, if necessary, an opportunity to take their first steps in this field.

During the webinar, the various presentations on the objectives and modalities of the call will be followed by a question-and-answer session. Participants to this webinar are invited to register online.

To facilitate the emergence of projects and support interested players in their efforts, Luxinnovation has set up an online platform where companies and public research players are invited to submit their project ideas until 29 July 2022.

Publication of a catalog of the Luxembourg defence industry

In order to strengthen the contribution of Luxembourg industry to the EU defence technological and industrial base, a directory has been designed by Luxinnovation and the Defence Directorate to present the current capabilities of Luxembourg industry as well as to encourage potential international partners to explore opportunities for international research and business development in the Grand Duchy.

The directory lists nearly 40 Luxembourg companies from different economic sectors and several departments of the University of Luxembourg as well as LIST (Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology).

This catalog was published on the occasion of the major international exhibition Eurosatory, the world's largest meeting place for land and air-land Defence and Security. For the first time, Luxembourg will present a national pavilion there, created in collaboration with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. Fifteen companies will be present or represented during the event. The Luxembourg delegation will also include 22 other companies that will visit the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre site from 13 to 17 June 2022.
