On Wednesday, Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, in his role as Minister for Religious Affairs, and the Minister of Health, Paulette Lenert, accompanied by representatives of the Directorate of Health, had an exchange with representatives of the country's religious communities.

The government ministers and religious representatives discussed the current epidemiological situation and the implementation of protective measures against the spread of COVID-19 within these religious communities.

In view of the current health situation, and taking into account the end of year period which is characterised by many religious and family celebrations, the government ministers and religious communities agreed on the importance of respecting barrier gestures during religious services, as well as the importance of vaccination as the most effective means of combatting the spread of the virus.

The government ministers and religious representatives also agreed to work more closely in the coming weeks to ensure that believers can fully exercise their worship during this year-end period in accordance with protective measures against COVID-19.
