Luxembourg's railways, the CFL, has announced that sections of rail lines 10, 50 and 60 will be closed during the months of October and November 2019.

The works on the railway lines are to enable the CFL to maintain, modernise and extend the rail network, which it does continuously. These railway infrastructure works require the temporary closure of certain sections of lines in order to enable their rapid and safe operation.

In the coming months, the CFL will close the sections between Ettelbruck and Troisvierges and Ettelbruck and Diekirch on Line 10 (Luxembourg - Troisvierges - Gouvy) from Saturday 26 October to Sunday 3 November 2019 inclusive. The section between Esch-sur-Alzette and Rodange on Line 60 (Luxembourg – Esch-sur-Alzette ‒ Pétange ‒ Rodange) will also be closed during these dates.

Similarly, the section between Luxembourg and Arlon on Line 50 (Luxembourg – Kleinbettingen ‒ Arlon) will be closed from Friday 1 November to Sunday 3 November 2019 inclusive.  

In addition, certain rail sections will be closed on various weekends between the months of October and December. In October, these works will affect lines 10, 50 and 70 (between Luxembourg and Arlon, Luxembourg and Hollerich and along the Luxembourg - Ettelbruck - Diekirch route) on 5-6 October, line 60/90 (between Luxembourg and Bettembourg) on 12-13 October, line 30 (between Wecker and Trier) on 19-20 October and line 60 (between Esch-sur-Alzette and Audun-le-Tiche) on 30-31 October and on 2 November 2019.

In November, the following sections will be closed: lines 50 and 70 (between Luxembourg and Arlon and Luxembourg and Hollerich) on 9-10 November; lines 30 and 60/90 (between Luxembourg and Oetrange and Luxembourg and Bettembourg) on 16-17 November; line 30 (between Luxembourg and Oetrange) on 23-24 November.

In December, the following sections will be affected: lines 50, 60/90 and 70 (between Luxembourg and Arlon, Luxembourg and Bettembourg and Luxembourg and Hollerich) on 14-15 December 2019.

During these closures, the CFL will put alternative transport measures in place.
