Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth has announced that it ecourages primary school classes to make part of their learning activities into the outdoor teaching programme from Monday 10 October to Friday 28 October 2022.
The ministry recalles that "Udeskole" in Denmark, "Uteskole" in Norway, "Outdoor Learning" in Scotland, "Draußenschule" in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, "la classe dehors" in France, "l'école dehors" in Belgium, "apprendre au-delà des murs" in Canada and many other countries, the school leaves its walls to better connect with life outside. In Luxembourg too, more and more students are taking advantage of these courses in nature.
The website https://mirsiraus.lu offers many ideas and preparations for lessons related to different subjects: mathematics, languages, coding, psychomotricity, awakening to aesthetics, etc.
According to the ministry, learning outside has many positive effects on children's physical and mental health, social skills, self-confidence and connection with nature. For teachers, leaving the restricted framework of the classroom helps to strengthen the relationship with students and to see them in a new light.
Each class participating in the I'm out ("Mir si raus") action from 10 to 28 October 2022 can document their activities online and win a prize as well.
