On Monday 27 January 2025, Luxembourg's Prime Minister, Luc Frieden, hosted the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, for an exchange of views at the Ministry of State (Hôtel Saint-Maximin) in Luxembourg-Ville.
As reported by Luxembourg's Ministry of State ahead of the encounter, this bilateral meeting was an opportunity to discuss current international and European issues.
In the context of the visit, Prime Minister Luc Frieden shared on social media that "Europe’s stability and prosperity are not a given. It requires effort and ambition, in line with European values and principles". Addressing President Ursula von der Leyen, he said: "We will work closely with you towards achieving those objectives".
The European Commission President's visit forms part of the swearing-in of the new European Commission at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg that same day.
