Ding Xueixiang, Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China, is currently on a working visit to the Grand Duchy on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 June 2024.

His itinerary on Thursday included a welcome by Luxembourg's Prime Minister, Luc Frieden, for a working meeting to discuss bilateral relations, relations between China and the European Union as well as major international political issues.

Ding Xueixiang then had a working meeting with Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

Minister Bettel and Yuriko Backes, Minister of Mobility and Public Works, addressed the 2nd Air Silk Road Forum for International Cooperation organised as part of this working visit.

The Chinese Deputy Prime Minister was also received in audience by Luxembourg’s Grand Duke at the Grand Ducal Palace.

His programme for Friday 21 June includes meetings with the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Claude Wiseler, as well as with the vice-presidents of the Chamber of Deputies, the presidents of the political groups and the president of the Foreign Affairs Committee and European Union, Cooperation, Foreign Trade and the Greater Region.

The Chinese Deputy Prime Minister will then travel to the University of Luxembourg in Esch-Belval, where he will be welcomed by the Minister of Research and Higher Education, Stéphanie Obertin, and the Rector of the University of Luxembourg, Jens Kreisel.

After a guided tour of the Confucius Institute library at the Luxembourg Learning Centre and a brief meeting with Chinese professors and students, Ding Xueixiang will visit the Möllerei building in Esch-Belval (originally built in 1910, it was used to store ore and coke for the steel industry).
