Clara Moraru, President of CSV International;

On Thursday 2 February 2023, the National Congress of CSV International, CSV’s organisation dedicated to the international community founded in 2008, took place.

A new national committee was elected, with Clara Moraru as the new president. Mentored by Erna Hennicot-Schoepges, she had already held this role from December 2018 to April 2021, before being appointed Deputy Secretary General of CSV in May 2021, a function that she still assumes. She is known for her #letSDeMYSTYFYY campaign started in 2017, which included around twenty events - in 2020 alone - for members of the international community, in which more than 1,200 people participated.

Before her election, the new president presented to the congress the "Integration and inclusion" motion with proposals aimed at improving the integration and inclusion of non- and new Luxembourgers in Luxembourg’s society. The motion was voted unanimously by the congress and sent further to the National Committee of the party.

CSV International has 1,000 members (10% of party members) and this year celebrates its 15th anniversary. "In the past I had the impression that the CSI was a bit like Cinderella, a rough diamond not really valued inside the party," mentioned the new president. “The situation has been changing since 2021. I notice a great improvement in terms of visibility, but more particularly in terms of internal support, received not only from the party leadership but also from the local sections."

I am very proud of what CSV International is today. I remember that in 2017 the majority of speeches within the CSI were still in Luxembourgish. Even though I’m personally known for my work to promote the Luxembourgish language, CSI was created in 2008 specifically to allow the access of non-Luxembourgers to the political debate. Nowadays, we no longer talk about non-Luxembourgers only, but also about new Luxembourgers, who cannot follow the nuances of a political debate in Luxembourgish and sometimes do not even speak Luxembourgish. Our mission is therefore to serve a community of more than 300,000 non-Luxembourgers and more than 100,000 new Luxembourgers, with specific journeys, challenges and needs. We take this mission to heart, hence our proposals aimed at improving the integration and inclusion of non and new Luxembourgers.
