On 10 December 2015, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, François Bausch, will chair the 'Transport' Council being held in Brussels.

This Council meeting will involve a policy debate on the social aspects of road transport. The Luxembourg Presidency is expected to seek the views of Member States on current legislation and on the best ways to ensure that it is harmoniously and consistently applied. The Commission intends to present new initiatives in 2016.

During a working lunch, the Ministers will then discuss the issues of road safety.

In the afternoon, the Council is due to adopt its position at first reading on the three legislative acts which constitute the technical pillar of the fourth railway package.

The Commision will also present the aviation package in the form of the new Aviation Strategy, the balance and benefits of which Minister Bausch showed skepticism for following its adoption by the Commission on Monday.

The progress made in matters of road transport safety will also be discussed.
