Luxembourg Short Track Skaters Compete in Italy and Belgium

Between 19-22 October 2017, short track skaters Peter Murphy, Augustin Géré and Caroline Murphy represented Luxembourg at the Alta Valtelina Trophy in Bormio, Italy.

The skaters had success in the Italian competition, which is one of the most famous outside the World Cup Circuit due to its 1100m altitude and fast ice. Augustin Géré achieved an outstanding result by coming overall 2nd (out of 22) in the Boys Junior B (U18) and maintaining his 500m national record set earlier in the season. Meanwhile, Peter Murphy came 13^th out of 28 in the Boys Junior A (U20) and Caroline Murphy came 9^th out of 18 in the Girls Junior B (U18).

The previous weekend, Julie, Jimmy and Marco Kiesgen represented the Grand Duchy at the Opening Games in Turnhout in Belgium. Overall, Julie was named 5^th out of 17 in the Girls Junior E/F (U12), Jimmy came 8^th out of 14 in the Boys Junior D (U14) and Marco came 8^th out of 8 in the Masters.

Upcoming events on the short track agenda include the Beneluxcup series of competitions, open to all skaters from South Netherlands, Belgium & Luxembourg as well as competitions in Eindhoven (Netherlands) on 19 November and in Kockelscheuer (Luxembourg) on 17 December. There will be three further competitions in January, February and March next year.
