The women and men teams of the Luxembourg Lacrosse Club, "Black Lynx" and "Blacksmiths", have participated at the first game day of the newly created regional Lacrosse league.

On Saturday 14 October 2017, the Luxembourg Lacrosse Club with its teams “Blacksmiths” (Men Senior) and “Black Lynx” (Women Senior) joined other clubs from Trier, Saarbrücken, Kaiserslautern and Maastricht for a Lacrosse Game Day in Trier.

The day was a success for the Luxembourg players, with many playing their first games or scoring their first goals. 19 players, 16 men and 3 women, made it to Trier and for 5 of them, it was their very first game experience and for many others their first game for Luxembourg.

The format for the men’s games was 8 a side and two 20-minute periods per game, whilst the women played 6 a side with two 15-minute periods per game. The “Black Lynx” from Luxembourg joined players from Trier and Saarbrücken to form a team called “SaLuTris”. I

In the morning, the “Blacksmiths” achieved a victory against the host team. Despite the game starting slowly with Trier scoring first, Luxembourg regained its spirits and fought back, ending with a 7-2 result. A tougher opponent awaited in the second game with a strong team from Kaiserslautern who ended up winning 10-1. Nevertheless, Luxembourg’s honour was saved by a goal from Jacky Liu in his first game for Luxembourg in the men’s final game against Saarbrücken.  Despite high morale, the opponent defeated Luxembourg 12-1, with Morten Grotvedt having scored the one goal for his team.

Likewise, the very first game for “SaLuTris”, against the Kaiserslautern team, ended in defeat for Luxembourg with a score of 7-5. The two teams later once again came head to head with a victory 7-6 for Kaiserslautern.

All in all, the day proved successful for the teams, providing first experiences, context and fun.
