Luxembourg will host the next stage of the “Cities Connection Project 07” exhibition, from Friday 17 January to Saturday 15 February 2025, at the Luxembourg Center for Architecture (LUCA) in Luxembourg-Ville.
Cities Connection Project (CCP) is a project that brings architects from different cities or regions together. The Luxembourg event has the theme "Architectures in Transition, reuse of built heritage and social responsibility". CCP brings together architectural and urban projects from Barcelona, Wallonia-Brussels, Luxembourg and the Grand-Est Region of France.
The projects presented in the exhibition were selected to demonstrate a more ethical building culture that favours the saving and restoration of buildings.
According to LUCA “by choosing rehabilitation instead of demolition, by the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly construction systems, as well as by the reuse of building materials, the architect is beginning to become aware of his essential role as a socially responsible actor.”
Visits to the Luxembourg buildings discussed at the event, as well as to current restoration sites, together with the respective architects, will take place. The guided visits will include tours of the National Library, Tour Malakoff, the industrial remains of the Möllerei in Belval, the Spektrum Immersive building in Rumelange and others.
The projects presented in the exhibition were selected by a curatorial team, composed of the two co-directors of the Cities Connection Project, Xavier Bustos and Nicola Regusci, the Director of the promotion agency Wallonie-Bruxelles Architectures, Nathalie Brison, César Reyes Nájera, postdoctoral researcher at the Master in Architecture at Uni.lu and Maribel Casas, director of the LUCA.
