On Saturday 13 October 2018, the 18th edition of the nocturnal and festive Nuit des Musées was a great success with a total of 25,794 visits recorded visiting all the participating museums, representing a 19.6% increase over 2017.

The seven participating museums of the stater museumen group opened their doors until late at night. For this edition a virtual collection was created on Instagram by the blogger Anna Katina (https://www.instagram.com/nuitdesmusees_lu). An assemblage of impressions gleaned from the participating museums, before and during the Museum Night, gave rise to an exciting mosaic of shots, representative of the museums of the City of Luxembourg. In addition to the opportunity to freely visit the various collections and temporary exhibitions, visitors benefited from a programme specially designed for this occasion: guided and theatrical tours, workshops for children, concerts and performances.

Visitors had the opportunity to discover four new exhibitions: Filip Markiewicz - Celebration Factory at Casino Luxembourg, Schwaarz Konscht - Chimney Sweeps, 16th - 20th Century at Lëtzebuerg City Museum, Jeff Wall - Appearance at Mudam Luxembourg, and Michael Benson's Otherworlds at the National Museum of Natural History, whose opening took place during the day leading up to Museum Night. Finally, with the exhibition Jean Mich (1871-1932) at the National Museum of History and Art to be unveiled on 18 October, it was opened to the public exclusively during the Night of the Museums (Nuit des Musées).

The 19th edition of the Nuit des Musées will take place on Saturday 12 October 2019.
