The Grand Ducal Police have reported that nine motorists received fines on Tuesday 24 September 2024 for using their mobile phone while driving.

During a traffic check in Esch-sur-Alzette on Tuesday morning, the police fined nine drivers for using a mobile phone while driving (i.e. a €250 fine and four points on their licence).

Moreover, in eight cases, the driver or passenger was not wearing a seat belt (€250 and four points). One driver received a fine for being unable to produce a valid technical inspection (€145 and two points), one driver was unable to prove valid insurance (€24) and another driver received a fine for not being able to show a valid tax sticker (€24).

Five drivers also received a fine for exceeding the maximum permitted speed (€49, or €145 and two points).

The police drew up a report against one motorist who was driving without a valid driving licence and despite a driving ban.
