The Grand Ducal Police and the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (Corps grand-ducal d'incendie et de secours - CGDIS) have reported that a road accident took place on the A3 motorway on Tuesday morning.

At around 09:45 on Tuesday 19 July 2022, there was an accident between a bus and a lorry on the A3 in the direction of Luxembourg City, just after the Aire de Berchem rest area. According to the CGDIS, twelve people were injured in this multi-vehicle crash, of whom eleven were taken to hospital for a check-up.

As a result of the accident, both lanes, which are already narrowed by a construction site, were blocked for an extended period. A deviation has been put in place via the A13 and the A4.

According to the police, clearing the one-lane congestion and towing away the vehicles involved in the accident was further delayed by the fact that some motorists had parked and left their cars to go to the nearby Aire de Berchem. The vehicle owners were located and asked to move their vehicles immediately as they were blocking the lane through which the vehicles were being channelled out of the traffic jam.
