The Grand Ducal Police have reported two fatal road accidents, one on Saturday 16 and another on Sunday 17 July 2022.
On Saturday, at around 20:15, the police were notified of an accident involving a motorcycle on the Route de Lentzweiler near Eselborn. The driver, a 63-year-old man from Wiltz, came off the road after a curve and hit a tree. He died later at the accident site. By order of the public prosecutor's office, the measuring and identification service of the criminal police was involved in the investigation. The road was temporarily closed to traffic.
In the early hours of Sunday, at around 02:50, the police were notified of a vehicle involved in an accident on the CR166 between Schifflange and Kayl. The passenger side of the car hit a tree and caught fire. The rescue workers were able to determine the death of the driver and the only occupant, a 45-year-old man. By order of the public prosecutor's office, the police's measuring and identification service was on site.
