The Grand Ducal Police have reported that the A1 motorway is currently completely closed between the Grünwald motorway junction and Senningerberg following a lorry accident.
At around 12:00 on Tuesday 5 July 2022, a lorry driver had an accident on the A1 motorway near the Kirchberg exit.
The driver, who was travelling in the direction of Luxembourg City, lost control of his cement mixer due to a burst tyre and drove through the crash barriers.
Due to the force of the impact, the lorry turned and hit a light pole. The lorry then collided with a post on the motorway signage and finally came to a standstill between the crash barriers.
The lorry driver suffered minor injuries.
As there is a road safety risk due to both the hanging signage and the fallen mast, the motorway has been closed until further notice.
