The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a pedestrian was seriously injured in a traffic accident which occurred on Thursday evening in Luxembourg-Gare.

At around 17:00 on Thursday, a motorist was driving along Place de la Gare in the direction of Avenue de la Liberté when he / she had to stop at the intersection with Rue d’Épernay because of a bus. When the car driver was able to continue his / her journey, a pedestrian ran into the vehicle as it started, hitting his / her head off the bonnet, falling to the ground and losing consciousness.

After initial emergency medical care on site, the accident victim was taken to hospital.

The police carried out checks on the car following the motorist's inability to show any on-board documents; these checks revealed that the car was not properly registered and that there was no insurance cover. The public prosecutor's office ordered the vehicle to be confiscated.

An accident report has been drawn up.
