ALD Automotive, a leader in automobile leasing in Luxembourg, has announced the launch of an electric vehicle leasing solution with modular recharging management service for companies and employees in the Grand Duchy.

The evolution of needs and engines, the tax incentives of the Luxembourg government in favour of electric mobility are all reasons why ALD Automotive has set up a leasing solution for electric vehicles that is both complete, tailor-made and "Made in Luxembourg".

Gerrit Canipel, Sales Director at ALD Luxembourg, commented: “Following an in-depth analysis of the market, we realised that, despite an increasing demand for electric and hybrid vehicles, a significant proportion of drivers still point to several obstacles preventing them from making the switch from thermal to electric".

The first obstacle identified was the price. Although the electric vehicle is more expensive than its thermal equivalent, the leasing of electric vehicles can reduce the impact of this additional cost thanks to VAT which is only supported on rents and not on the entire investment and a deduction of premiums upstream of the leasing contract, among others. In addition, ALD bears the risk of the resale of these vehicles and therefore the possible losses in value linked to technological developments and to changes in manufacturers' prices.

Another obstacle linked to the use of electricity was the problem of autonomy. Through its partnership with Enovos, users of the ALD Electric solution will be able to recharge at home, at the workplace, on the public network in Luxembourg and throughout Europe. All transactions are centralised and covered by a single recharging budget integrated into the leasing.

Moreover, many users still have questions about the right charging system / required level of performance. ALD Electric thus provides various simple and efficient installation solutions, to be installed at home or on the company site. Traditionally, the user bears the costs of private recharging for the use of electric vehicles; from now on, the user can get reimbursed for his / her home expenses thanks to the intelligent charging device allowing a detailed report of consumption.

All the services available and which make up the ALD Electric leasing solution are: complete management of the electrical package with advice, choice of vehicle, infrastructure management, energy supply, public / private network charging, precise reporting, reimbursement service for private recharges for drivers, support for change, etc.; and assistance for the charging system with Mobiline by Enovos.

Gerrit Canipel added: “The new project that we are launching is completely innovative. In addition to electric or hybrid vehicle leasing, our offer includes a consumption management service including: advice and follow-up for setting up the charging device, a card for charging at public network terminals and a cable intelligent capable of precisely calculating the consumption taken on the private network in the company or directly at the home of the driver benefiting from a fuel budget for reimbursement in his favour".

The notable advantages of ALD Electric, according to the service provider, are: a solution ranging from a simple electric vehicle leasing contract to the most comprehensive energy management services; a team of dedicated experts specially trained in electric mobility advice; the reliability, compliance and assurance of charging devices;  competitive energy tariffs negotiated by Enovos for the Grand Duchy and Europe; a local service. The ALD Electric solution and its advantages are valid in Luxembourg as well as its three neighbouring countries.

Dominique Roger, General Manager of ALD Automotive Luxembourg, concluded: “A quarter of new orders for leasing contracts already relate to electrified vehicles: hybrids, plug-in hybrids and 100% electric vehicles. [...] The current government incentive of €8,000 for 100% electric cars and vans and €2,500 for plug-in hybrid cars and vans with CO2 emissions of 50 g / km or less will certainly further stimulate the use of this type of engine".
