On Wednesday 26 February 2025, the Automobile Club du Luxembourg Sport (ACL Sport) hosted the Automobile Sports Evening, a gala event at Parc Hôtel Alvisse in Luxembourg-Dommeldange, celebrating and awarding the best from Luxembourg’s motorsport community.
Nearly 300 guests attended the ACL Sport gala, which honoured the achievements of Luxembourg’s drivers over the past year. Among the 321 licensed members of ACL Sport, including 23 women, around 50 individuals were recognised for their accomplishments in their respective disciplines or for their contributions to motorsport.
During the gala event, several key figures in Luxembourg's motorsport community took the stage, including Miriam Eisenmenger, CEO of ACL, Romain Gantrel, President of ACL Sport, and Florian Brouir, ACL Sport Sporting Director.
In an interview with Chronicle.lu, Florian Brouir highlighted the progress made at the FIA Motorsport Games: “Maybe if I had to pick a highlight that includes both the ACL and the drivers, it would be the FIA Motorsport Games, where we were present. It's like the Olympic Games of Motorsport. The event took place in Valencia, Spain and we participated with eleven drivers, all of whom reached the final phases. The year before, we had only two drivers competing, so this was a significant step forward. Although we didn't win a medal, the results were promising, giving us hope for the next edition. Let's hope that in the next edition, things will be the same - but this time, we'll bring home some medals.”
For the second consecutive year, Grégoire Munster, an official M-Sport driver in the World Rally Championship (WRC), claimed the top honour at the ACL Sport Awards, winning the title of "Autosportler vum Joer 2024" (Motorsport Athlete of the Year 2024) following an outstanding season in the WRC.
Following a vote by the public, the Luxembourg Motorsports Writers Association (LMWA), the ACL Sport Board of Directors and its sporting and technical commissioners, Grégoire Munster secured 39.72% of the votes, placing ahead of Chester Kieffer with 25.94% and Gil Linster with 20.83%.
Speaking to Chronicle.lu, Grégoire Munster said: "I think when you get the prize, it's really nice, but to stay consistent and win the prize again is really important because it means that you need to maintain your level of performance. But at the moment, I feel it's just the beginning. We are just starting in WRC and I see that it can only get better.”
“It was our first year in Rally1. We managed to score a couple of top-five finishes, which was good for consistency, but there were also some highs and lows, with some periods that were a bit more difficult. Now that we know the car, the team and the championship, we are much more experienced to tackle the second season. […] So, we want to achieve a top four,” continued the ACL Sport Motorsport Athlete of the Year 2024.
In the upcoming season, ACL Sport is set to build on its momentum with the launch of new initiatives. The organisation has confirmed the return of the Lorentzweiler Hill Climb, organised by Écurie Luxembourg and Racing Action Lorentzweiler, which will serve as the opening round of the 2025 Luxembourg Hill Climb Championship.
Later in the year, motorsport fans can anticipate the Luxembourg Slalom Auto and Karting Championship, featuring two exciting race weekends at Colmar-Berg
