Luxembourg racing driver Dylan Pereira competed in the eigth and ninth races of the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany this weekend at the Lausitzring circuit in Brandenburg, Germany.

Rain and a wet track brought additional challenges on the 4.5km-long circuit which features twelve bends and four straights.

Dylan Pereira tried the track on Thursday, when the tar was dry, and was the fastest driver of the two 45-minute test sessions. However, on Friday it started to rain and, with the track very slippery, the Förch Racing team driver tried during an hour of free practice to find the right settings to control his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on wet asphalt. He did 22 laps on the circuit and went through the boxes four times to tune the car, but his Porsche remained very difficult to control and the Luxembourger could not keep pace with the fastest drivers.

On Saturday morning, the timed practice took place amid light rain, resulting in a very slippery and dangerous track. Dylan Pereira needed two good qualifying laps for the races and started by securing the 2nd fastest time. After the usual passage through the boxes to change tyres and make the final adjustments, the Luxembourger still managed to improve his lap times, but his opponents were faster, leaving Dylan Pereira 5th on the starting grid for the first race and 7th for the second.

At the start of the first race on Saturday afternoon, the track was still wet although it had stopped raining, making it difficult for the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup to grip. The start was of almost fundamental importance and Dylan Pereira immediately jumped to 4th position. Then, after a good fight at the start of the second round, he managed to reach the 3rd position. During the fourth lap, he took advantage of a driver going off the track in front of him to take 2nd place.

In the second race on Sunday, the Luxembourger saw the difficulties increase with the track completely wet and coming out of 7th place on the starting grid. Once again, a good start allowed Dylan Pereira to immediately take 6th position; on the second lap he moved up to 5th, but at the end of the third lap he came off the track and ended up in 16th position. There were 23 minutes left before the end of the race and the objective was then to obtain the best possible result, in order to collect as many points as possible for the general classification of the championship. Upon his return to the track, he overtook several opponents and, four minutes from the end, was already in 8th place with the 6th and 7th in sight. However, a driver's exit from the track forced the entry of the safety car, which remained until the end of the race, preventing Dylan Pereira from obtaining more points.

As the championship draws to a close, next weekend Dylan Pereira will be in Oschersleben (Germany) to compete in the last two races of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany of the season, with the possibility of becoming champion of the 2020 edition.
