This weekend, Luxembourg racing driver Dylan Pereira took part in the eighth and final race of the 2020 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Italy, where he finished in 4th place.

The race in Monza, Italy, marked a decisive grand final, in which Dylan Pereira needed to finish fewer than four points behind his main opponent to win the title. The Luxembourger tried to focus more on the race and less on the classification, as the Monza circuit is very fast and demanding; it has long straights, fast corners and difficult chicanes, driven at high speed, in which the car is supported only on two wheels.

With the restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, unlike the other drivers, Dylan Pereira did not have the opportunity to test his car at Monza, where adjustments are essential to obtain the perfect balance between the accelerator, brakes and tyres, to drive at the limit without making mistakes.

In free practice, all eyes were on Dylan Pereira and his main opponent, Dutchman Larry ten Voorde. Although those 45 minutes were only to find the best settings for the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the close fight for the championship prompted commentators and journalists to place their bets. The Luxembourger got the session off to a good start, before going over the limits of the track. After the usual passage through the boxes for the final adjustments, Dylan Pereira returned to the track, but a pilot leaving the track interrupted the session. The green light to resume training came on with just over 20 minutes remaining. The Luxembourg driver decreased his lap times.

In Saturday's timed practice, Dylan Pereira had 30 minutes to get a time that would allow him to occupy one of the first places on the starting grid. In the first few laps, he was not so lucky. On a very fast lap, he had a small run off the track towards gravel, which not only ruined his excellent time lapse potential, but also destroyed the tyres. Despite this setback, he set the third fastest provisional time. After his usual return to the box for the final adjustments, and with only eight minutes to complete a stunning lap, the BWT Lechner Racing driver saw his teammate Leon Koehler overtake him. 4th place on the starting grid required an excellent start to the race, because of the direct battle with pole position.

As usual, Dylan Pereira got off to a good start, jumping straight to 3rd position and preparing to battle for 2nd place, when a driver's exit from the track led to the entry of the safety car. During the restart, when the Luxembourger was about to move to 2nd place, another driver once again forced the entry of the safety car. After the return of the green flags, Dylan Pereira retained the 3rd position.

The season ended with Dylan Pereira having achieved his goals set at the start of the championship. The Luxembourg racer finished the 2020 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in 2nd place in the final general classification, having stepped on the podium six times (two wins, two 2nd places and two 3rd places).

Dylan Pereira returned to Luxembourg on Sunday evening, where he was greeted at Findel airport by the press, his family and friends. Luxembourg's Minister of Sports Dan Kersch congratulated Dylan Pereira on obtaining 2nd place in the final ranking of the 2020 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Minister Kersch commented: "This is what I call great art from a young driver with a great future and already a first-rate ambassador of the Grand Duchy around the world".

With the end of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, Dylan Pereira will next take part in the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, which starts in two weeks, with a race integrated into the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
