This weekend, Luxembourg racing driver Dylan Pereira took part in the seventh and penultimate race of the 2020 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Belgium, where he finished in 2nd place, putting him back in the lead overall.

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit is very technical and difficult, with complicated sections done at high speed and constant changes in altitude, ranging from around 100 metres between the lowest point and the highest point of the track. Dylan Pereira knows the course well, but it is always difficult to do the steep climb to Eau-Rouge or the Raidillon curve without losing the car's grip. The settings are crucial in order to be able to control the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and not make mistakes.

In free practice, the BWT Lechner Racing driver immediately went to the track to take advantage of the 45 minutes of the session. The test started fifteen minutes late, due to some red flags during qualifying in Formula 2, with dry asphalt and very cloudy skies. Dylan Pereira used worn tires and focussed more on testing the new gimbals, which transmit power from the engine to the wheels. A little over half an hour before the end of the session, the first drops of rain started to fall, forcing all the drivers to return to the pits to change the tyres. A few minutes later, the rain intensified, the track was flooded and the session was permanently interrupted for safety reasons.

In timed practice, on a dry track, the Luxembourgish driver's main concern was to make a quick lap, without going out of bounds. Dylan Pereira went on the attack, setting the fastest time. Back in the box for the final adjustments, he had the provisional pole position. In the second part of the qualification, the Luxembourger was about to improve his time, but a small error in the third sector earned him 3rd place on the starting grid.

At the start of the race, Dylan Pereira maintained 3rd position, remained competitive and had the fastest lap of the race, repeatedly trying to overtake his teammate who was in 2nd place, but the latter blocked the Luxembourger's passage. During the penultimate lap, Dylan Pereira took advantage of a mistake by his teammate, jumped to 2nd position, but the finish line was in sight and the Luxembourger finished the race glued to the winner's exhausts.

With this 2nd place finish, Dylan Pereira took the lead of the 2020 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. He will compete in the eighth and final race of the competition next week in Monza, ahead of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
