Luxembourg racecar driver Dylan Pereira reached the podium twice at the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany over the weekend.

This past weekend, Dylan Pereira competed in the ninth and tenth races of the Cup at Zandvoort in the Netherlands, where he secured two bronze victories. The Luxembourger thus repeated last year's victories at Zandvoort, when he also reached the podium.

Despite the circuit having the particularity of being close to the beach and its demanding and very fast turns, Dylan Pereira got off to a good start, achieving the third best time in the free practice session.

In the timed qualifying session, the Lechner Racing driver was again quick to make the best time, in spite of the unstable, windy weather and the wet and slippery runway. He took full advantage of the 35 minutes available for two good laps. Once the track dried, Dylan Pereira returned to his box to change the tyres of his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. 21 minutes from the end of the session, the practice was interrupted by an opponent stuck in the gravel. Nevertheless, at the end of the session, after 12 laps and having twice secured the fastest time, the Luxembourger finished in second place in the first race and fifth in the second.

For the first race, which took place on Saturday afternoon, Dylan Pereira got the second best time for the starting grid, but because of a penalty of three places, imposed during the last race of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany on the Norisring circuit, the Luxembourger came out in fifth place. The asphalt was already dry but still very slippery, because of the sand scattered by the strong winds. In the second round, Dylan Pereira took fourth place. In the eighth round, he was hit by Luca Rettenbacher, causing the Luxembourger to lose a place. The management of the race penalised the Austrian driver by placing him behind the Luxembourger. Dutch driver Larry ten Voorde finished in third place, but he too was penalised by five seconds for a false start. Dylan Pereira took advantage of these faults to reach the third step of the podium.

In the second race, which took place on Sunday, the Luxembourgish driver came out of the grid in fifth place and maintained his position at the start. During the third round, an accident stopped and shortened the race. The restart was behind the safety car and only 15 minutes from the checkered flag. Dylan Pereira climbed to fourth position, taking advantage of an incident in front of him, where Larry ten Voorde pushed Julien Andlauer off the track. Three minutes from the end, another accident forced the safety car to return to the circuit until the end of the race, preventing the usual strategies for overtaking and winning places in the last two laps. After the race, Larry ten Voorde was again penalised allowing Dylan Pereira to take the third position.

The Luxembourgish driver's performance and the mistakes of his opponents have solidified his fourth place in the overall standings.

Dylan Pereira will return to the track next weekend, from 16 to 18 August 2019, for the eleventh and twelfth races of the German competition on the Nürburgring track.
