Luxembourg racecar driver Dylan Pereira has got off to a solid start at this year's Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, achieving the best lap of the first race and climbing seven places in the second race.

The 2019 season officially started for Dylan Pereira on Saturday morning in Hockenheim with timed practice for the first two races of the season at the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. Against a rainy backdrop, the best times for the starting grid were made in the first laps.

Later, the conditions changed and when Dylan Pereira came in, the best he could do was to drive and adjust his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, so as to achieve good times towards the end of the tests. However, the departure of a fellow competitor from the race track forced the direction of the race to interrupt the qualification. After the safety car exit, and just in time to make two laps, Dylan Pereira clocked the 15th and 17th fastest times.

In the first race, he came in 17th place and immediately started to double with the climb of one position per lap. In the fourth round, the departure of another competitor forced the entry of the safety car and, at that moment, the Luxembourger was already ranked 11th, having recovered six places. In the restart, he climbed two more places, but was penalised for a bad position on the starting grid. He later returned to the track in 23rd place. Nevertheless, Dylan Pereira continued to stand out by achieving the best lap of the race four times.

At the start of the second race, Dylan Pereira gained three places, climbing to 11th in the fourth lap, 10th in the fifth and 9th in the sixth. He managed to finish the race in 8th place. After the penalty in the first race that lost him points, the Lechner Racing rider made a great second race, climbing seven places and winning his first points in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany 2019.

Optimistic, Dylan Pereira commented that "the speed is there, all I need is to achieve a good qualification, which was not possible this time in Hockenheim".

The Luxembourger will return to the track in Barcelona next week, from 10-12 May, to compete in his main competition of the season: the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. This first race opens the Spanish Grand Prix in Formula 1.
