Dylan Pereira at Spa Francorchamps, 2018;

After very good indications in test sessions, a technical problem ended the race of Dylan Pereira before the first corner of Sunday's Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2018 Race in Spa Francorchamps, Belgium, the seventh race of the season held after a month of mid-season holiday.

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit is the longest and most technical track throughout all the championship and which poses the greatest difficulties, including the high-speed Eau Rouge and the famous Raidillon corners.

Dylan Pereira has been very optimistic and started the week-end well and was surrounded by sponsors and fans who came to Spa to support him.

Combining his natural ability to drive high speed and intelligence to get good results, in free practice he was cautious, refused to impress with fast laps and chose to seek the best set-up for the race.

In the timed practice, the Luxembourger waited six minutes to enter the track to take advantage of the cleaning of the asphalt by his opponents in the early laps.
On a very busy track, he was one of the fastest drivers and, after nine qualifying rounds, he completed a superb final lap, scoring the sixth fastest time on the starting grid among the 33 qualified drivers.

In the race itself, Dylan Pereira made a good start as usual but, even before the first corner, a technical problem in the clutch of his Porsche GT3 Cup type 2 prevented the driver of MOMO Megatron Lechner Racing from achieving his legitimate expectation of a good result and the possibility of finishing on the podium.

Despite the disappointment of this forced retirement, the Luxembourger had the support and understanding of his sponsors and the affection of his fans, keeping the motivation and confidence in his ability to get some more podium places this season.

As a result, Dylan Pereira drops to 8th place in the season's standings.

Next weekend, the eighth race of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will take place on the circuit of Monza for the Italian Grand Prix.
