On Monday 27 April 2026, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) announced that it will be supporting ProVelo.lu in offering cycling lessons in Luxembourg City.

Since its creation in 1988, ProVelo.lu Asbl has been committed to promoting coexistence and mutual respect between all road users, while supporting a policy that encourages soft and active mobility, thereby contributing to a more sustainable and ecological society. Its programme of providing cycling lessons began in 2009 with support from the VdL and the Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte providing financial support to ProVelo.lu to purchase new equipment.

The VdL reported that the courses, which will take place outdoors in a secure area in Luxembourg City, are based on a programme combining psychology, didactics and sports science and are intended to introduce children and adults who have never had the opportunity to learn to ride a bicycle, as well as those wishing to improve their skills.

The cycling school is fully in line with the soft mobility policy and the cycling concept of the VdL, whose action plan is based on four pillars: infrastructure; a wide range of cycling-related services; a public relations campaign; and the creation of an observation entity.

The VdL noted that the initiative also helps to strengthen the safety of cyclists in urban areas.
