On Friday 3 May 2024, Uber and WEBTAXI announced they are partnering to make WEBTAXI’s taxi services available to users of the Uber app; from mid-June, users of the Uber app can directly book a taxi trip with WEBTAXI.
According to the partners, this collaboration aims to enhance urban mobility and facilitate taxi ordering for everyone in Luxembourg.
WEBTAXI noted it approached Uber for the partnership, to combine WEBTAXI’s strong local presence and taxi service in Luxembourg with Uber’s cutting-edge technology and app, which is trusted by millions of users worldwide. Through the partnership of WEBTAXI and Uber, it will become easier to order trips throughout Luxembourg for international visitors and residents alike.
"WEBTAXI is known in Luxembourg for providing unparalleled taxi services and by partnering with Uber we are able to serve the mobility needs of Uber’s large international user base when they visit our cities," said Emile Weber, Board member of WEBTAXI. "Our trusted drivers, who make WEBTAXI the preferred choice for taxi services in Luxembourg, can now easily be connected to new groups of riders.”
In addition to offering their taxi services to their existing passengers, WEBTAXI drivers will soon be able to serve Uber’s vast user base, which includes 150 million monthly active users globally. Drivers will thus benefit from additional trips ordered by international visitors and local users. According to WEBTAXI and Uber, the Uber app also offers drivers more efficient routing between trips.
Riders who use the Uber app will have access to the features they are used to, such as emergency assistance buttons, sharing one’s ride in real-time with family or friends and tools to ensure they can verify that they get into the correct vehicle. Additionally, riders will see the trip fare before ordering a ride.
"We are thrilled to launch the Uber app to make mobility more accessible for all riders in Luxembourg," said Laurent Slits, Director at Uber. “With over 150.000 openings of the Uber app in Luxembourg last year, we expect that visitors, tourists and local users will welcome the launch of our app.”
Existing users of the WEBTAXI app can continue to book their WEBTAXI directly via all the channels they’re used to, the taxi provider added.
Uber’s launch in Luxembourg will also make it possible for independent taxi operators in Luxembourg to join the Uber platform.
