The City of Luxembourg has announced that the terms of use of the "Call-a-Bus" and "Rollibus" adapted transport services will be modified on Sunday 1 March 2020, with the introduction of free public transport.
Call-a-Bus service: door-to-door transport for senior citizens in the capital
In order to adapt the mobility offer to the needs of older residents, the “Call-a-Bus” service will, from 1 March, allow any Luxembourg City resident aged 70 or over to benefit from a door-to-door transport service on the territory of the capital. After registering with the Bus Service, customers will be able to book a ride (up to 45 minutes before the desired departure) for the price of €6, plus €3 for each accompanying person for the same journey (max. three accompanying persons). The Call-a-Bus service will be available from Monday to Saturday, from 09:00 to 00:00.
"Rollibus” service - transport service dedicated entirely to wheelchair users in the capital
Following the introduction of free public transport, the "Rollibus" service will now be entirely reserved for Luxembourg City (or neighbouring municipalities) residents with reduced mobility who use a wheelchair. This service offers customers and their companion free door-to-door-type transport, with departure and arrival locations located on the territory of the City of Luxembourg or neighbouring municipalities. The Rollibus service will continue to operate according to the usual timetable: Monday to Sunday from 07:00 to 00:00.
Anyone fulfilling the respective conditions for these specific public transport services can register with the Bus Service, either via the form available online (bus.vdl.lu) or by going to the Info-box (20- 22 Rue des Bains - open Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 18:00 until 29 February 2020 inclusive) or the Infobus counter at Cercle Cité in Place d'Armes (open Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 18:00 from 2 March 2020) respectively.
Applicants will then receive a personal customer card, which will allow them to book their journeys in advance (maximum three weeks in advance, minimum 45 minutes before departure) and which they must present to the driver before getting on the bus.
