The next phase of the Luxtram project on Avenue de la Liberté will lead to a reorganisation of traffic, including bus changes, from Sunday 12 May 2019 onwards.

Due to the progress of the Luxtram project in the lower part of the Avenue de la Liberté (between Place de Paris and Place de la Gare), the related work will impact traffic around Avenue de la Gare. Buses running from Place de la Gare to the city centre will be diverted via Avenue de la Gare and Rue Jean Origer before rejoining their initial route at Place de Paris.

In addition, in order to create a bike path link for the entire duration of the works, a new cycle route will be set up at Avenue de la Gare to connect the Gare and the Upper Town.

In concrete terms, this next project phase will see the establishment of a new bus lane and bypass towards the city centre via Avenue de la Gare and Rue Jean Origer, as well as the creation of a new secure, two-way bike path between Place de la Gare and Rue Fort Bourbon. For this purpose, parking spaces and delivery areas will be converted and the trees removed. Works will begin from mid-March. To compensate, new delivery areas will be developed in the immediate vicinity.

Moreover, the construction phase will foresee the closure of access for individual motorised traffic from Place de la Gare to Rue Jean Origer. Access to residents and suppliers will be from the intersection of Rue Jean Origer and Rue Bonnevoie towards Place de la Gare towards Rue du Fort Neipperg.

In this context, visitors can still find a parking place in the underground car parks "Fort Wedell", "Rocade", "Nobilis", "Gare" and "Martyrs" and, from autumn 2019, the "Neipperg" car park.
