The free wireless network that has been available in Luxembourg City since the beginning of the Presidency looks set to be extended beyond 31 January 2016.
The initiative was first announced by Luxembourg Prime Minister Xaviel Bettel this time last year during the Lux Internet Days conference, the 2015 edition of which the PM is due to speak at this morning.
The free WiFi was originally planned to be made available solely during the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union, from July to December 2015, but reports of its success, with more than 1.2 million hits recorded in the first three months, resulted in the Government announcing in October that the initiative could potentially be extended.
This has now become a reality, as announced Monday.
