The Health Directorate within Luxembourg's Ministry of Health and Social Security has published its latest weekly report on the evolution of the main acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and whooping cough.

This report looks at figures for the week of Monday 4 to Sunday 10 November 2024.

During this period, the number of positive cases of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) increased slightly, from 101 to 104 cases, i.e. an increase of 3% compared to the previous week.

However, the viral concentration detected in wastewater showed a decrease.

The latest available sequencing data revealed that the KP.3 variant of the virus remained predominant in September 2024.

The number of influenza (flu) cases reported by laboratories also increased, from eleven to 28 cases, while remaining at a low level. During the last four weeks, influenza A represented 54% and influenza B represented 46% of cases.

On the one hand, RSV cases were also on the rise, with 24 confirmed cases, compared to nineteen the previous week.

On the other hand, the number of whooping cough cases recorded a decrease, from four to three cases.
